Bee School 2012
The Prince William Regional Beekeepers is part of the Northern Virginia Teaching Consortium. We teach Introduction to Practical Beekeeping classes throughout the area every winter. Beginning classes are open to adults and children (age 9 and over and accompanied by an adult) who are interested in keeping honeybees. In the beginning classes you will learn:
- History of beekeeping
- Life cycle and biology of honeybees
- Set up and maintenance of beehives
- Seasonal hive management
- Beekeeping equipment & supplies
- Integrated Pest Management
- Sustainable Beekeeping
- Nectar Sources
- Where to get bees
- Installation of honeybees into a hive
$100.00 (one fee per family) tuition includes:
- 8 weeks of classroom instruction
- Books
- CD with lecture notes
- 1 year membership in Prince William Regional Beekeepers Association
- Beekeeping Mentor
- Field Days
Prince William Regional Bee School (2012 classes) Open House will be on Sat. Nov 12th from 1-3pm at the Manassas Church of the Brethren, 10047 Nokesville Road (Route 28), Manassas, VA. Meet beekeepers, see woodenware and beehive displays, beekeeping catalogs, books, etc. A Presentation on Beekeeping will be at 1:30 pm.

Class registration will open at the open house. Class registration fills up every year. If you are seriously interested, we strongly encourage you to attend this open house and/or give Louise a call.
