Prince William County Fair is just around the corner and we are once again exhibiting and spreading the buzz on bees! We need your help!
We will have our full display at the Fair, including our observation hive, from Aug 9th through the 17th. The Fair is open this year on the weekends (Friday, the 9th, Saturday, the 10th, Sunday, the 11th and Saturday the 17th from 12 noon until closing, which for us is about 8 PM daily. Monday though Friday the gates and our exhibit do not open until 5 pm.
Those of you that were gracious enough to to give of your time last year will know where our booth is located, in the exact same space as last year, in Building C, Agri-Culture near the Main gate.
We are hoping once again to keep volunteer booth time blocks to about 2-3 hours. We would love to have at least 2 beeks in the booth during all open hours but ANY MEMBERS CAN STOP BY AND HELP OUT, SIGNED UP OR NOT. Those that are signed up, I have been assured by Fair management, as exhibitors, will be able to get their FREE admission pass at the will call ticket booth. (No, it does NOT include rides!)
Please pick your slot and let Gary Harris know ASAP when you are available. See the attached list for available slots. We will be updating and resending out the sign up sheet as folks step forward right up to opening day.
SPECIAL NOTE: We keep an observation hive in the booth during open hours. To keep bee stress level to a minimum, we prefer to change out the bees every 2 days. If you are willing to lend 2 healthy DEEP frames and hopefully your queen out of one of your hives for 48 hours, we would be most grateful. Please contact me directly for details.
