With a heavy heart we share news that long time PWRBA club member Gary Harris passed early this morning August 16th after injuries sustained in an accident at home last week. Gary started beekeeping when a swarm moved in to his equipment while he and his wife were in Bee School. Gary was a mainstay of the PWRBA. Some of his contributions include designing our logo and other items such as our extraction booklet. He was responsible for getting us the wonderful meeting location at the church and for years helped us with any issue we had, setting up bee school and more. He was a mentor and a participant in our SARE research and education project. Gary was a champion of public outreach and education for the PWRBA, designed our current outreach booth and organized many of our outreach materials. He was a mainstay at the PW Fair and PW Farm tour booths for years. Gary was known to spend months and months tracking down pencils with bees on them, getting boxes of stuffed bees, and making his own bee toys and games all in the interest of educating children about honey bees. Gary was even featured in an early CBS news story that ran on National news and can be found on the front page of our website. May his memory be a blessing. A memorial will be held in March, 2022.
