There are so many news stories, opinion pieces, petitions, campaigns and ideas swirling around about bee health and what causes health versus what causes disease it is hard to keep up or separate out fact and fiction. One thing that's pretty indisputable and seemingly non partisan is that there is an lack of good diverse and nutritious forage for bees and other pollinators. A recent article by Dr. Marla Spivak and another one by Randy Oliver both ask us to consider seizing this moment of the honeybee in the public spotlight and ask folks to focus on trees and flowers- support healthy pollinator and wild life habitat! Cascadian Farms Bee Friendlier Project has joined in too and recently produced a great video on this same subject.
